The Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA) is an inclusive organization, whose sole focus is mission is to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, & cooperation — one individual, one community at a time.

The principal objective of the HKSCA is to increase cultural and educational exchange to improve understanding and promote interaction between the people of Houston and Karachi. The association will also help build bridges of friendship and commerce between these two vital centers of culture and finances. By supporting individual and civic exchanges that foster better understanding and appreciation between citizens of the two cities, HKSCA will develop ongoing projects and events to promote cultural and people exchanges as well as economic development opportunities.

Pakistan Flood Relief Appeal

Millions of homes in thousands of villages and towns across the country have been destroyed. According to UN reports, over 174 Million people have been affected by this disaster. Infrastructure such as power stations, roads, bridges, schools, agriculture wells, and drinking water hand pumps have been severely damaged or destroyed. Millions more are at risk from disease and further flooding.

Please consider this an urgent appeal for much needed support to the flood victims of Pakistan. The need is immediate and severe.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States stopped in Houston to talk about business opportunities

Ambassador Husain Haqqani says Pakistan is not only an important nation in the fight against global terrorism, but he told business leaders attending a World Affairs Council function that it's a nation with many business opportunities. He says Pakistani-Americans have always invested in Pakistan, especially with the country's move towards democracy.

Karachi's Mayor Mustafa Kamal signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mayor Bill White that declares Pakistan's largest city as a sister city to Houston. Council member M.J. Khan helped pave the way for the memorandum.
